In the three pieces of media that I have selected based on the film ‘ Sherlock Holmes’ I will try and look at the synergy between all three and how this is represented in all three forms of the media. Synergy is when on form of media such as a film in this case ‘Sherlock Holmes’ produces a film trailer trying to promote their film and attracting an audience to watch the film, the film company will also produce a film poster and have a well known film magazine to advertise their film via having a whole front page spread with the films main character on it such as the ‘total film’ magazine with ‘Sherlock Holmes on the front of it, they create the synergy by having the character in the same outfit in all three forms of media, ‘Sherlock Holmes’ is wearing the same old fashioned suit on the front of the magazine, poster and also in the film trailer, they make out that ‘Sherlock’ is the main guy in all forms of the media as he is centre of the page on both poster and magazine he is also in nearly every single scene in the film trailer. The film company creates synergy like this so that people from all types of backgrounds can see that the film is being produced and that it will be in the cinema very soon, they do it so that people will be in the know and will go and watch the film when it is out. They make three forms of media so that they can place the film anywhere, such as a paper or billboard or even the television.
